A 26-year-old man was shot and killed in Leesburg early Saturday, according to police.

Officers received a report of shots fired in the area of Washington and East streets at about 12:15 a.m.

Investigators arrived at the scene and found Vontay Silas-Pruitt lying in the middle of the road. He had several gunshot wounds to the chest, police said.

Silas-Pruitt was taken to Leesburg Regional Medical Center, where he died from injuries.

Investigators returned to area to canvass the neighborhood and observe the crime scene during daylight hours.

Police did not immediately release information about a possible suspect.
