The Orlando Police Department is investigating a fatal head-on collision on Mercy Drive in Pine Hills early Friday morning.

Spectrum News 13 learned from police that speed was a factor as a small vehicle and a large delivery truck crashed head on at around 2:50 a.m.

The female driver of the smaller vehicle died at the scene and the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. At around 5:45 a.m., the county medical examiner arrived at the scene of a deadly crash on Mercy Drive in Orlando.
Mercy Drive between Princeton and New Hampshire streets was closed as crime scene tape was seen around the area.

The road was closed for serveral hours as the Police Department's traffic homicide units were investigating the crash, but Mercy Drive reopened a little after 8 a.m.
