On Thursday afternoon, Sumter County officials released the following information about storm debris from Hurricane Irma.

The following areas have had debris removed:

  • The county’s C-roads system
  • All roads in:
    • Oakland Hills
    • Oakhill
    • Rutland
    • Orange Homes
    • Lake Pan
    • Cherry Lake
    • Wahoo
    • Lake Minoa
    • Lake Okahumpka Park

The upcoming debris removal has been divided into zones:

  • Zone 1: West of US 301 from the Marion County line to C-470W (Includes county roads 200’s and 300’s)
    Estimated Pickup Dates: Ongoing until Friday, Nov. 24, 2017.
  • Zone 2: East of US 301 from the Marion County line down to C- 470E (Includes county roads 100’s and 500’s)
    Estimated Pickup Dates: Ongoing until Friday, Nov. 10, 2017.
  • Zone 3: West of US 301, south of C-470W (Includes county road 300’s, 400’s, 500’s, and 600’s)
    Estimated Pickup Dates: Friday, Oct. 06, 2017 until Friday, Nov. 10, 2017.
  • Zone 4: East of US 301, south of C-470E (Includes CR 500’s and 700’s.)
    Estimated Pickup Dates: Friday, Oct. 06, 2017 until Friday, Nov. 24, 2017.
    The Villages community were excluded in the zones.

"Sumter County residents needing to immediately dispose of storm-related debris may bring debris to a temporary disposal site off County Road 528 and State Road 471 in Sumterville," officials stated.
