A driver of a SUV that caught fire after it rolled over and smashed into a building and killing him on Sunday night has been identified, the Florida Highway Patrol stated.

  • The accident happened on Emperor Drive

At around 9:15 a.m., Carlos Camacho, 45, was driving his 2007 Honda SUV northbound on Chancellor Drive at a "high rate of speed," stated the FHP, when he failed to make a turn and went through a hedge and into a parking lot.

The SUV then struck a curb and went into the air, over a retention pond and then struck an edge of an embankment and flipped towards a building, the FHP described.

The SUV's roof struck a building and the vehicle caught on fire.

Bystanders were able to grab fire extinguisher and were able to contain the fire, stated the FHP.

The SUV did not split in half, as it was reported earlier, the FHP confirmed.

The investigation is ongoing.
