A murder trial starts on Friday for the man accused of killing four people in Marion County back in 2011.

James Bannister is charged with four counts of first-degree murder and arson. Investigators said they believe Bannister shot all four victims and then set the home on fire to cover up the killings.

He is accused in the shooting deaths of his 27-year-old girlfriend Jocalyn Gray, her mother Bridget Gray, 52, and two children who were living with Bridget Gray, CorDarrian Hill, 8, and CorDerica Hill, 6, and then setting a home on fire where their bodies were found.

According to an arrest affidavit back in 2011, Bannister allegedly described to a friend that the killings were "like he was playing a video game but that he could not stop."

Bannister could face the death penalty if convicted. However, some members of Gray's family members said they would not want Bannister to receive such a sentence.

"He need to live and every time he open his eyes, close his eyes he needs to see my sister and my niece," said F.L. Brown, Bridget Gray's brother.
