Authorities in Lake County say they're looking for the driver in a hit-and-run accident that left a 73-year-old man in critical condition.

  • Jim Juillerat was hit while on his motorcycle on Sept. 13
  • The accident left him with critical injuries
  • Tavares Police are still looking for the driver who hit him

It happened on Sept. 13 at about 9 a.m. on State Road 19 in Tavares near Royal Harbor Boulevard.

Christy Juillerat-Armstrong says her father, Jim Juillerat was leaving his Tavares subdivision, Royal Harbor, when he got into an accident.

Police say a light-colored pickup truck hit the back of Juillerat's motorcycle, sent the bike into a wall and left the 73-year-old in the middle of the road. Authorities say the driver of the truck got out and then left the scene.

"So basically left him like roadkill," said Juillerat-Armstrong. "It's like he hit a deer, leave it on the side of the road, suffering, are you kidding me?"

Juillerat-Armstrong says the accident left her Dad with collapsed lungs, half a dozen fractured ribs and road rash.

"He's had a surgically implanted tube down his throat that's connected to a machine that's breathing for him," said Christy.

Authorities were able to locate some transfer paint on the motorcycle that could belong to the suspect's vehicle and sent it to FDLE.

Christy has set up a GoFundMe account for her Dad's medical bills.
