Warm, moist air around today is about to be replaced by the coolest air Central Florida has seen since mid-March.

  • Monday to see highs at 85 degrees
  • Strong cold front coming
  • Fall temperatures on the way

The cold front responsible for a big pattern change is heading in our direction overnight, bringing with it scattered showers and some embedded thunderstorms.

We’ve been watching showers and storms develop ahead of the front, and will keep activity around tonight into tomorrow morning. We’re not expecting severe weather, but developing storms could contain brief, heavy rain and gusty wind.

Much cooler, drier air invades late Tuesday. Most of us are done with showers by mid-morning, with a lingering chance in Brevard and Osceola Counties into the afternoon. Highs Tuesday are back in the lower 80s, but dip into the 70s Wednesday through Friday.

Lows drop into the 40s and 50s area wide Thursday morning. In the Caribbean, disturbed weather runs a medium chance of gaining tropical characteristics, but stays well east of Florida if it develops.

Poor to fair conditions are in the forecast for surfers tomorrow, as the easterly swell begins easing. Wave heights will be around two to three feet, occasionally a little higher.

We are still looking at a moderate rip current threat for those of you planning on swimming. Sea surface temperatures have cooled into the upper 70s to around 80 along our east coast.
