  • He is facing aggravated assault with a firearm, other charges

Jonathan Craig Rollason-Elliott, also known as "Long Jon," is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's DeLand-area home around 12:01 a.m. after he kicked the front door in and started to argue with her, deputies stated in a press release.

Rollason-Elliott allegedly pointed a handgun at the 25-year-old woman as he questioned and screamed at her and at one point, fired a shot into the ceiling, according to deputies, adding that he punched her before he left.

While conducting an extra patrol of the area later in the morning, deputies say they found the victim's front door open and spray-painted.

The deputies said the house was in disarray when they got inside. They said the curtains had been cut and vulgar comments had been spray-painted on the walls.

Deputies said that's when they found Rollason-Elliott in the attic. They say he surrendered peacefully.

Deputies said Rollason-Elliott had a .25 caliber Beretta handgun, a baggie of suspected meth and a smoking device in his hiding spot.

He's being held without bond, pending his first appearance in court.
