A second teenager has been charged as an adult in the beating death of Roger Trindade on Wednesday morning, according to State Attorney Aramis Ayala's office.

Jesse Karl Sutherland, 16, is facing manslaughter and battery charges.

"I can confirm Sutherland has been … filed (charged as an adult) in the Trindade Case," Eryka Washington, public information officer for State Attorney Aramis Ayala, stated to Spectrum News 13.

Simeon Joshua Hall, another 16 year old, is also charged as an adult in the Trindade case and he was recently accused of beating another teen unrelated to Trindade.

Investigators say Hall messed with his ankle monitor just a few days after being released from a juvenile detention center. He then went out and was involved with the beating of the other teen, they say.

The unidentified teen suffered non-life threatening injuries that caused great bodily harm and permanent disability or disfigurement, officials said.

Trindade, 15, died in a hospital a year ago, days after being found beaten in a Winter Park city park.

Initially, Hall and Sutherland were charged as minors in the Trindade case. However, following the second accusation, Hall's charges were increased and he will be tried as an adult. He faces charges of manslaughter, two counts of battery and one count of tampering with an electronic device (his ankle monitor).

In court last month, Hall and the other teen defendant claimed their alleged involvement in Trindade's beating was in self-defense, but the judge stated that the 15-year-old teen did not pose a threat to the boys.

The case against Hall regarding Trindade's death was scheduled to be heard in November, but the State Attorney's Office said that date would be pushed back now that Hall has been charged as an adult.
