  • Woman's damaged eye had to be removed

Quaneisha Knight has been charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm or disability in connection with the incident.

According to a police report, Emily Brinson was recovering at Orlando Regional Medical Center after eye surgery and other medical issues. Brinson told a police investigator that she'd been attacked by Knight, a roommate, on Friday afternoon at their home on West 15th Street. During an argument, Brinson said, Knight put her hands around her neck, choking her, and then used her fingers to gouge out one of her eyes.

The eye later had to be removed.

Knight was taken into custody Sunday. She denies the allegations and told police that Brinson fell, though police said she did not explain what made her fall or how Brinson's eye was injured so severely.

Bond was set at $15,000.
