Partly sunny skies started the work week with a few showers and storms developing through the afternoon.

  • Rainy with cooler temps
  • Cold front dropping south
  • Breezy conditions in the forecast

Temperatures were unseasonably hot with highs around 90 degrees.

Coverage of the rain expands a bit late tonight and into tomorrow as a cold front slides across the state.

Ahead of the front, moisture will be squeezed out in more widespread showers and a few embedded rumbles starting in the overnight hours through Tuesday. Breezy conditions are in the forecast along with some locally heavy rain, especially near our east coast.

Clouds and rain will keep highs either side of 80. The washed out front nearby Wednesday will provide enough moisture to keep rain chances at 50 percent. High pressure builds in late in the week, with drier air cutting rain chances out of the forecast Friday and Saturday.

Breezy conditions stick around most of the week. The tropics have quieted down for now, with only an area of low pressure east of the Bahamas running a medium chance of gaining tropical characteristics. Regardless, it will stay to our east.

Poor to fair conditions are expected in our local surfcast Tuesday, although showers and breezy conditions won’t make it the best day to be at the beach. If you’re braving the elements, anticipate a lingering swell mix and wave heights two to three feet, occasionally higher. The rip current threat will be moderate the next couple days. Sea surface temps are around 80 degrees.
