One person was killed and another one was critically injured after their vehicle was rear-ended and pushed into a retention pond Saturday afternoon. 

Troopers said the crash occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Drive and Amber Road in Orange County. 

Troopers said Charles Dunn, 52, was traveling in a GMC pickup truck behind a Honda Civic. 

For an unknown reason, the truck rear-ended the Honda, causing the vehicle to spin and travel backwards into a retention pond. 

According to the report, several bystanders attempted to pull the occupants of Honda out of the vehicle as it became submerged. 

Once Orange County deputies and Fire Rescue arrived, they were able to pull the occupants from out of the vehicle. 

However, the driver of the vehicle, Jesus Aucaquizhpi, 70, died from his injuries. The passenger of the vehicle, Zenaida De Aucaquizhpi, 61, was taken to Florida Hospital East in critical condition.

The driver of the pickup, Charles Dunn, 52, only received minor injuries. 

According to the report, the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
