It was a fairly dry Saturday across the area, but moisture is already returning across the area.

  • Scattered showers
  • Highs in the 80s
  • Hazardous boating conditions

A few coastal showers will be possible for the overnight hours, with the best chance east of I-95. Patchy fog may also develop in some inland areas, with lows in the low 70s.

Rain and storm chances continue heading into Sunday. Tropical moisture remains in place across the area, which will allow scattered showers and storms to develop. The best chance along the coast will be in the morning, with the PM hours being the best chance for rain in inland areas.

Highs for Sunday will be in the upper 80s.

Even better rain and storm chances arrive ahead of a cool front. The front will approach the area Monday and Tuesday, bringing even more moisture into the area. Highs both days will be in the mid to upper 80s.

Drier air will return behind the front, but temps will remain warm. Expect partly cloudy skies both Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the low to mid 80s. With strong northeasterly winds, a few coastal showers will be possible each day.

Even more dry air is on track to arrive to close next week.

In the tropics, Hurricane Ophelia is now a major hurricane in the North Atlantic. Ophelia will likely maintain hurricane status as it becomes post-tropical over the next 1-2 days.

The system will likely produce wet and windy weather across parts of Ireland and Great Britain early next week.

Elsewhere, another system in the Lesser Antilles may develop further. The complex will lift north and eventually turn out to sea. It has a medium chance of development.

Boaters should expect improving conditions Sunday, with easterly winds at 10 knots and seas at 3-5 feet. Surfers will find poor-to-fair conditions, with an east-northeasterly swell. The rip current threat will be moderate for Sunday.
