There is still no sign of a mother who left her newborn baby girl at an Orange County apartment complex.

Investigators told News 13 someone left the baby at about 4:20 p.m. at Willow Key Apartments on Arnold Palmer Drive, in Orlando on Friday, Oct. 06.

Orlando Police Department detectives are staying tight lipped about the mother and the investigation.

The department even waited six days to let the public know that the baby was dropped off at the Willow Keys Apartments.

Police say the baby was found in one of the stairwells, she was fully clothed at the time and she is in good condition. However, police did not release a description of the baby girl.

News 13 was told there was a note attached to the baby asking someone to take her to a fire station.

Residents here are reacting to the news.

"Child does not ask to be in this world so just to drop it off where there’s places to go to drop a child off safely,” said Amanda Barnett.

Florida Safe Haven law states parents can drop off their babies up to seven days old at a fully staffed fire station or hospital.

News 13 has learned this is the first baby abandoned this year in the area.

In June 2016, Susan Richardson was sentenced 51 weeks in Orange County Jail for child neglect and unlawful desertion of a child after someone found what was believed to be afterbirth in an apartment parking lot in February of that year. The infant was called Baby Willow and she was never found.
