The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting at the Magnolia Court Condominiums.

  • Residents kept out of complex for few hours
  • One person dead, another in critical condition
  • Gunman has not been found

One of the men has died, while the other remains critically injured at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Both men are adults.

OCSO said the shooting took place in the 7600 block of Forest City Road in Orlando, near a playground. Deputies responded to the area around 4:45 p.m. following a call reporting shots fired in the area.

“It is astounding that it would take place in the middle of the day like this, in the middle of the afternoon, so this is a very dangerous situation, there is no question about that, we do have a deceased individual," said Jeff Williamson, Orange County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer.

Williamson said the gunman has not been found.

“The entire complex was locked down, we went apartment by apartment, building by building search, to make sure there were no other injuries and no other threats," said Williamson.

People who live in the condominiums were kept from going to their homes for a few hours. Lockhart Middle School was also placed on lockdown during the investigation.

"Yes, I am very concerned because if someone out there is shooting," said Shanavia Scott, a mother of three. "Why can't I go in? I just got off work, to see what is going on with my kids, that is the only thing I want to know is like, is my kids ok?"

Anyone with any information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers, 407-423-TIPS.
