A 4-year-old boy was seriously injured after being bitten by a dog overnight, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

  • Boy bit in face, head, but is expected to recover
  • Pit bull has been quarantined

The attack happned at about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday at a home on Turtule Marsh Road in Hunter's Creek.

The boy suffered injuries to his face and head, deputies said. The injuries are not life-threatening.

Deputies believe the dog, which belongs to the mother's boyfriend, bit the child multiple times.

While the mother and her boyfriend were in the living room, the dog went into the boy's room and bit him, deputies said.

"The dog wandered into the victim’s bedroom and a few minutes later the victim emerged from the bedroom crying from his injuries," stated Lt. Ken Taylor in a press release.

Animal services will quarantine the pit bull for 10 days with the option to put it down.

The boy is expected to recover.
