Sanford police have arrested two suspects after multiple armed robberies in the city's historic district.

According to Sanford police, Diquan Walker was arrested Thursday and his girlfriend Lizbet Martinez was taken into custody Friday. Police said when arrested, Walker had two active arrest warrants for armed robberies that happened on December 18 at 4th Street and Park Avenue, and on December 31 at Iglesia Vida Nueva Church, located at 911 Palmetto Ave.

Martinez was arrested in connection with the robberies. 

Authorities said during interviews, it was determined Walker was responsible for seven recent armed robberies. It was also confirmed that Martinez aided Walker in the robberies by selecting the victims and using some of the victim’s credit cards after the robberies.

A weapon, clothes worn during robberies and items from the robberies were recovered at the home where the couple was recently staying, officials said. 

Additional charges could be coming. 

Investigators are still actively working the remaining five robbery cases.
