  • Strong thunderstorms, hail possible
  • Freeze watches for northern counties overnight Saturday night

It’s was a quiet and warm end to our work week with plenty of sunshine Friday afternoon and temperatures close to 80 degrees. Low pressure is moving in from the Gulf of Mexico and will change conditions quite a bit for Central Florida this weekend.

Rain chances, along with a few storms, will increase overnight and continue into Saturday afternoon. Following this low, temperatures will take a big hit Saturday night and Sunday.

As low pressure gets closer, showers and even a few storms will be likely after midnight and through Saturday afternoon. Some of the storms have the potential to be strong, with high winds and hail being the main threat. Temperatures will stay mild, in the mid to upper 60s.

Showers and storms will start the weekend, but rain will come to an end early Saturday afternoon as low pressure moves northeast. Following the rain, winds will increase quite a bit out of the north-northwest. This will bring in some cold conditions for Saturday night and Sunday.

Already Saturday afternoon, temperatures will drop back into the 50s and the fall into the upper 30s to low 40s. Some of our northern counties may even fall to around the freezing mark of 32 degrees. Freeze watches have already been issued for this potential.

While temperatures will already be cold, wind chill will make it feel even colder. Most early Sunday morning will feel more like around 30 degrees. Vegetation and animals will need to be protected.

Sunday afternoon will be sunny, but cool and windy with highs in the mid to upper 50s.

Boating conditions will be extremely hazardous over the next few days as winds pick up. Gusts over 30mph will be possible. A Small Craft Advisory, along with a Gale Watch, has been issued.
