Florida Highway Patrol is trying to figure out why two men crossed into oncoming traffic early Friday morning.

  • One pedestrian dead, other injured
  • Driver of car said 'sorry' to News 13 when asked about the accident

One person was killed and another injured early Friday in a crash on John Young Parkway and Oak Ridge Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Both men were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where one of them died. The injured man is listed in serious condition.

Juscelino Marques De Aruj, 32, wouldn’t say any more than “no, no, sorry, sorry,” when News 13 asked him about the crash.

He was the driver of the car that hit two men around 5 a.m.

Witnesses told troopers the two pedestrians were trying to cross John Young Parkway about 20 feet north of the crosswalk.

Investigators said the car had a green light when the two men went into the direct path of the vehicle.

This is not a safe area for pedestrians, according to residents.
