The third teenager involved in the beating death of a Winter Park high school student has pleaded no contest in court on Thursday morning.

  • Roger Trindade, 15, was beaten and found unconscious in October
  • 3 teens were charged in his death
  • 2 of the teens were placed under house arrest
  • Third teen charged with witness tampering

The third teenager, who is 14, pleaded no contest to witness tampering and simple battery. There was no plea deal and he was placed under house arrest until the trial date on Feb. 24.

The two 15-year-old suspects are being charged with manslaughter.

On Wednesday, a judge decided to place two of the teenagers, both 15 years old, on house arrest until they head to trial next month.

Roger Trindade's mother and sister spoke in court on Wednesday and said the teenagers should stay in jail.

"There has to be consequences for what they did," said Laura Thome Koch, sister of victim.

In October, Trindade was found by police beaten and unconscious near Park Avenue in Winter Park.

His mother said she is now living in Brazil, but returned for the hearings.

"I'm going to pay more than these boys and these parents for sure. I'm going to remember my son," said Adriana Trindade, mother of victim.

"My mom wakes up everyday and cries everyday and it's going to be like this for the rest of her life," said Koch.

News 13 has decided not to name the teenagers because they are minors and they are not being charged as adults.

The third teenager is expected to appear before a judge around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
