  • Train jolted off tracks when it hit a bumper block

Eleven of the injured were taken to hospitals.

About 700 people were on board the train at the time of the crash.

The New York City fire department said all of the injuries are non-life-threatening, but at least one person was being treated for a possible broken leg.

Officials first received an emergency call at 8:20 a.m.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said damage to the station was minor. According to Cuomo, the train was jolted off the tracks when it hit the bumper block at what he described as a "fairly low speed."

He said it "wasn't really a derailment."

Fire officials said the train also crashed into a room just beyond the bumper. They also said a section of rail pierced the bottom of the train.

The Federal Rail Administration said it will investigate, along with the National Transportation Safety Board.
