Boeing Corporation on Wednesday unveiled the spacesuits that astronauts will wear on NASA commercial crew missions to the International Space Station.

The high tech suits will be worn on the company's CST-100 Starliner spacecraft on low Earth orbit flights in the coming years.

Former NASA astronaut Chris Ferguson modeled a suit; he was the last space shuttle commander and works for Boeing.

The lightweight design is said to be inspired by suits from the history of the space program, from Gemini, Mercury, Apollo and space shuttle.

On a NASA contract, Boeing's spacecraft is set to fly two test flights and six missions to the ISS starting in 2018 as the United States gets back to flying astronauts from the Space Coast.
