Orlando Police have issued a warning about scammers who are requesting donations over the phone for fallen Lt. Debra Clayton.

The department posted the alert to Twitter on Wednesday.

An official fund for Lt. Clayton’s family has been setup through GoFundMe. More than $59,000 has been donated, exceeding the goal of $50,000.

Lt. Debra Clayton was shot on Jan. 9 outside a Walmart on Princeton Street. She was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she died. The suspect shooter, Markeith Loyd, was captured Tuesday night following a nine-day manhunt.

Loyd is also accused of shooting and killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend last December.
