The man struck and killed by a vehicle as he walked on the Tomoka River bridge Monday night has been identified.

Dale Churchill, 55, of New Hampshire was struck at about 8:23 p.m., Florida Highway Patrol troopers said Tuesday.

According to an FHP report, Wilson Kowaleski, 30, of Palm Coast was driving a 2005 Jeep Wrangler north on U.S. 1 in the left lane when Churchill walked into the lane and was struck.

Kowaleski was not hurt, and alcohol is not thought to be involved in the crash, troopers said. The crash is still under investigation.

The pin within the map does not indicate the exact location of the accident, but just the general area.
