Thirteen dogs saved from a Merritt Island house fire will soon be put up for adoption.

On Friday, most of the animals were taken from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office's Animal Care Center in Melbourne to the SPCA of Brevard facility in Titusville.

A few of the animals continue to undergo treatment following Wednesday's fire.

The dogs were rescued from the burning Kennwood Avenue house early Wednesday. Forty-five cats and five other dogs died in the fire.

The Sheriff's Office said a criminal investigation into the owners is ongoing. They escaped without injuries.

Anyone interested in adopting one of the rescued dogs is asked to contact the SPCA of Brevard at 321-567-3615.
