The 11th-grader at Vanguard High School told another student that he had a gun and was going to shoot a ninth-grader, officials said.
According to an Ocala Police report, the student reportedly "started to bang his backpack against a pole and stated he had a 'stick' inside."
Officials said that when they searched the student's backpack, they found a black revolver that was loaded with four live rounds and two spent casings.
The student reportedly purchased the gun from someone for $100, police said.
"We don't tolerate weapons on campus — period," said Kevin Christian, public relations officer for Marion County Public Schools. "(It) doesn't matter whether they're loaded or not."
