A driver is in critical condition after colliding with a pickup truck carrying metal beams early Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At about 6:52 a.m., in Altamonte Springs, a man was driving an Isuzu Rodeo on westbound Interstate 4 when he allegedly failed to stop and hit the back of a pickup truck carrying two metal beams, said Sgt. Kim Montes of the FHP to News 13 in an email.

The metal beams went through the windshield of the Isuzu and the driver was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition, Montes stated. His name has not been released.

According to Montes, the beams were properly marked with a flag and a safety vest.

The driver of the pickup truck, Derek Swink, 25, was not injured.
