Police are on the hunt for suspects after more than a dozen cars were broken into at two Melbourne hotels Friday morning.

It happened at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place, off Airport Boulevard, and next door at the Residence Inn Melbourne parking lot.

Investigators said robbers smashed car and truck windows, then took whatever they could find inside, such as loose change, a backpack -- even a gun out of one vehicle.

"Unfortunately, this is a target-rich environment for burglars, so that's why it's even more important that (people) follow the simple rules of putting their stuff away," Melbourne Police Cmdr. Dan Lynch said.

Two of the victims staying at the Hilton work for Giant Recreation World and were in town for a RV show. They spent their morning cleaning up shattered window glass from their work truck.

"All you are trying to do is go to work in the morning, and you come out to a mess like this," Jerry Schiller said.

"It makes me mad, because now it's more money coming out of the company pocket," Giant Recreation World worker Robin Nelson said.

Police are asking for help in finding the suspects; call CrimeLine at 1-800-423-TIPS if you have any information.
