  • The teenagers are likely connected to similar cases in the area, police said

The four suspects were arrested Tuesday at a Walmart Neighborhood Market on Babcock Street in Melbourne. Investigators said they tracked the teens down in a stolen car that was taken from a West Melbourne neighborhood earlier Tuesday morning.

Police officers also found a stolen rifle in the vehicle's trunk.

According to investigators, the teens are responsible for stealing at least eight cars in the area and breaking into several homes. Cash and cellphones were reported stolen in the break-ins, police said.

In some of the incidents, the teenagers were able to get into the homes using garage door openers they found in unlocked vehicles.

"Don't leave it in your vehicle — or hide it — to prevent access to the house," said Capt. Rich Cordeau, of the West Melbourne Police Department.

Melbourne and Palm Bay Police said the teenagers are linked to similar cases in their cities. If you believe you're a victim, call Melbourne or Palm Bay Police.
