A brush fire raging in Brevard County has now scorched 855 acres, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, but it's "pretty much done."

The fire, called the Old 50 Brush Fire, is burning in the Saint Johns National Wildlife Refuge.

State Road 50 is back open on Wednesday, after being closed for several hours Tuesday night in Brevard County.  

Firefighters with the Florida Forest Service and Brevard County Fire Rescue worked through the night to battle the blaze.

At last update, the fire was 70 percent contained, with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service saying the fire is “pretty much done.”

Officials say no roads are closed right now, and they don't expect any will be today. However, officials say they will evaluate again tonight.

Florida Highway Patrol is still monitoring the fire, to make sure smoke doesn’t impact the morning commute. Florida Highway Patrol is stationed to make sure conditions are clear for driving. 

At one point Tuesday night, there was concern that hotels near the fire would have to be evacuated, but firefighters were able to control the fire enough to keep these businesses open.
