Nearly two years after founding his tech company, Nebbia Technology, Esteban Garcia is celebrating a milestone.

  • Nebbia Technology opened new Orlando office
  • Startup originally opened in Canvs co-working space

"[I'm] very proud of where we are," said the Ecuador-born Garcia of his small software firm, which works to move companies to the cloud. “I always wanted to be in technology. I always wanted to do software from the beginning.”

Garcia and his staff toasted to the grand opening of their new downtown Orlando office Thursday.

Garcia wanted to bring his clients to a space, and two years ago, Canvs provided just that: The co-working space, filled with technologists, allows budding companies to rent desk space.

“There was all the energy of these different people creating," he said.

Eventually, Nebbia was ready to leave the nest. Garcia said the search took the company months, checking out various buildings in the City Beautiful.

“We need a place that we can call our own. We can paint our own walls, we can have our own conference rooms," he recalled.

They found the right fit on South Orange Avenue, two blocks away from where it all started at the Church Street Exchange Building.

“That feeling of running your company and growing something from nothing has always been very intriguing for me," said Garcia, who now has a team of six people, mainly programmers, around him.

As a computer engineering student at the University of Central Florida, Garcia never dreamed he have his own company. But now, at the age of 39, he does -- and is passionate about continuing to grow Nebbia in Orlando.

“Having all that talent stay here is just going to make it so that more companies are looking at Orlando to move here, or hire the talent, hire the companies that are here," he said.

Garcia said that a seventh person will be joining his company next month.
