Here's what the weather forecast for Thursday looks like across Central Florida:

  • Rain chances at 30% to 40% through early next week
  • Highs will be either side of 90 degrees for the days ahead
  • Fall officially begins at 10:21 a.m. Thursday, but it'll remain hot
  • Tracking the tropics: Lisa and Karl

Our last summer night for this year will be partly cloudy and a touch humid. Temperatures will get down into the middle 70s to rise again in the low 90s Thursday afternoon.  There is a 40 percent chance for afternoon and evening showers and storms.

Autumn begins Thursday at 10:21 a.m., although here in Central Florida, it will continue to feel like summer.

Dry air at the mid-levels of the atmosphere has stifled most shower and storm formation leading to a lower chance for afternoon rain going into the weekend too.

The mid-level dryness has been brought down our way by the upper level circulation left over from Julia which is now centered near the South Carolina coast.

We are tracking two named storms in the Atlantic, Karl and Lisa.  Neither one of these tropical systems will be influencing our weather except for a few long period swells this weekend from Karl.

Surf conditions Thursday will be poor to fair with wave heights running 1 to 2 feet. Rip current threat is moderate and may become a high threat due to swells from Karl by Friday and Saturday. Water temperatures range from 80 in Daytona Beach to 85 in Cocoa Beach.
