We now have two named tropical storms in the Atlantic: Karl and Lisa.

Karl continues to have maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. It hasn’t changed in intensity or organization over the past 24 hours, but it is expected to slowly strengthen over the next few days.

Hurricane Hunter aircraft investigated the storm Tuesday and says Karl has not strengthened. It could become a hurricane by the end of the week and into the weekend.

The good news for us is that it is expected to remain on a northwest then a northward movement, which would keep it well away from the U.S. and more of a threat to Bermuda by the weekend.

Lisa, meanwhile, which formed Tuesday, is much farther east in the eastern Atlantic. Its maximum sustained winds are also 45 mph. Lisa is forecast to remain a tropical storm over the next few days as it moves northwest. It's then expected to turn more northward and weaken by the weekend. It poses no threat to the U.S., either.
