  • Man found in street after leaving OPD officer's home, cops say
  • William Byers was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead
  • Officer John Tritt is on administrative leave

William S. Byers Jr., 48, was found late Saturday night in the 3700 block of Pelican Lane, in Orlando's Audubon Park neighborhood. He appeared to have fallen in the road and sustained injuries. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He was at the home of Orlando Police Officer John Tritt before he died, police said. During the initial investigation, police determined there was a possible policy violation at the officer's home. Tritt has been placed on administrative leave while an internal investigation is conducted.

Police said Byers's injuries were not the cause of death, and no foul play is suspected. The District 9 Medical Examiner's Office will make a final determination on his death.
