Let's see what the weekend weather looks like for Central Florida:

  • Scattered showers and storms
  • Highs will reach the 90s
  • Julia moved farther east today

While Julia is not directly impacting our weather, the storm does play a role in how much rain is expected over the next few days. Julia moved farther east today, which has allowed for some slightly drier air to move in.

Partly cloudy skies are in the forecast through the overnight hours. Temperatures will be warm and muggy, falling into the mid-70s.

As long as Julia stays a few hundred miles to our east, rain chances will stay low for the end of our weekend. Expect only a few showers and storms Sunday afternoon as highs climb back to around 90 degrees.

Drier air will help with the high humidity, but only slightly. It will still feel more like the mid-90s. Julia is not expected to increase in intensity, but still meander a bit closer to us on Monday. This will allow for more moisture to move back in and much higher rain chances for the start of our work week.

In the tropics, Julia was downgraded again to a tropical depression several hundred miles east of Jacksonville. The track is still uncertain with this system and is expected to sit off the east coast over the next couple of days. No direct impacts from Julia, but higher waves and a high rip current risk will continue. Tropical storm Karl is out in the central Atlantic and is moving west toward the Lesser Antilles. In a few days, this storm will encounter some favorable conditions for strengthening and could become a hurricane. Models have this storm turning north before reaching Florida, but it’s still something we’ll watch closely over the next week. Another disturbance just off of Africa has a high chance for tropical formation in the next five days.
