The eastbound lanes of Interstate 4 are back open at Florida's Turnpike after a 4-inch gas line was ruptured Friday afternoon, according to the Orlando Fire Department.

The Florida Department of Transportation said the gas line was hit during excavation along the eastbound lanes. Workers were moved to a safer area, and the highway was closed in the area for safety reasons, transportation officials said.

The Orlando Fire Department tweeted at 2:39 p.m. that the gas leak was contained, and the highway reopened just before 3 p.m.

Jennifer Horton, a spokeswoman with the Florida Department of Transportation, said an I-4 Ultimate worker hit the gas line.

No injuries were reported, Horton said.
