New security measures prevented the Arkansas man from getting past the front gate.

Before going through the turnstile at the entrance of the Magic Kingdom, a Disney security officer reported that he randomly selected 42-year-old Kevin Webb for additional screening.

Webb was told he had to walk through a metal detector — just one of the new security measures installed less than a year ago.

An arrest affidavit from the Orange County Sheriff's Office said that's when Webb told the officer he was a former law enforcement officer from Arkansas and was carrying a firearm in his front pocket.

The security officer asked for his credentials, which stated he was a patrolman for the Sherwood Police Department. But when the officer called to verify that information, he learned that Webb was fired in 2013, and his police identification should have been turned over when he was terminated.

Although Webb worked at SPD for nine years, officials there said he was fired for a history of dishonesty and untruthfulness.

When Webb was searched, officers found a pistol loaded with seven rounds and a .25-caliber magazine in the same pocket.

Webb was arrested on felony charges of carrying a concealed firearm and falsely impersonating a law enforcement officer. He bonded out of the Orange County Jail the same day.

This isn’t the first time Disney’s Magic Kingdom has encountered guests trying to bring weapons onto property. In December 2015, a Miami man carrying a loaded gun ran from security at the park entrance. He was arrested.

Disney added metal detectors later that month.
