Here's the Central Florida weather forecast for Wednesday night into Thursday:

A steady flow of moisture coming in from Tropical Storm Hermine from the Gulf of Mexico has provided some of us a gloomy, rainy start. Heavier bands of showers and storms will be pushing across the area tonight, tomorrow and into Friday. Locally heavy rain and gusty wind is expected.

Hermine is still organizing in the Gulf and is slowly drifting north as it pulls in warm water in an area of weaker shear. The storm is also forecast to begin turning northeast tonight, making its way toward the Panhandle and landfall late tomorrow.

Bands of rain moving in will stick around through Friday, with locally heavy rain and gusty winds in the forecast. The worst conditions will stay north of Interstate 4, especially from northern Sumter and Marion counties across to northern Volusia County, with lower impacts south.

The rip current risk is high today as an easterly swell and developing windswell mix churn up the Atlantic waters. Advanced surfers should still swim with caution and near a life guard stand. Wave heights will swell to shoulder height at times. More favorable surf conditions are expected near any wind-protected breaks.
