Orange County: Public schools are open for classes and after-school activities Friday. This includes football games. "It's business as usual," school district spokeswoman Kathy Marsh said.

Lake County: The district announced early Friday morning that there would be no school for Friday. "Due to the condition of roads in our area this morning, Lake County Schools will err on the side of caution and close school today (9/2) out of concern for student safety," Lake County Schools announced in a news release to the media.

Osceola County: Normal school district operations.

Sumter County: No school Friday, per the district.

Brevard County: Schools are open Friday.

Volusia County:

  • Schools will be closed on Friday due to Hermine, the school district announced via Twitter.
  • Daytona State College’s Flagler-Palm Coast Campus will be closed tomorrow due to Hermine and the college stated that students needing updated information should call 386-506-HELP. All other campuses will be open for scheduled classes. 
  • Deltona Trinity Christian Academy in Voluisa County will be closed on Friday.

Seminole County: Schools are open Friday. 

Flagler County: All classes, activities and events scheduled for Friday have been canceled.

Marion County: All classes and events scheduled for Friday have been canceled.

Polk County: Public schools will remain open on Friday. The school district says it will continue to monitor conditions and communicate any changes via the automated telephone calling system.

Elsewhere: University of South Florida's campuses will stay closed in the Tampa area on Friday. All classes are canceled.

Thursday

Brevard: All outdoor school activities for tonight have been cancelled.

Volusia: Schools will be open Friday, normal schedule. After-school and evening events were canceled Thursday (except extended day).

Marion: Normal school day Friday.

Orange: Schools open Thursday. After school extracurricular activities are canceled. Extended day open as scheduled.

Brevard: School operations & activities will resume as normal.

Seminole: All school operations and activities were on as normal Thursday.

9:45 p.m. Wednesday

6:45 p.m.

Orange County Public Schools said it will be open Thursday. But all outdoor after-school extracurricular activities were canceled. Extended day will go on as normal before and after school.

In Volusia County, Beach Safety flew the red flag today. Few people were on the beach today, the agency said, so there were no water rescues — despite a high rip-current threat — or other significant issues.

4 p.m.

Schools in Volusia and Flagler counties will be in session, but all after-school and athletics activities Thursday have been canceled, the districts said.

3 p.m.

Brevard County Public Schools said schools will be in session Thursday.

2:25 p.m. 

Volusia County Public Schools says schools will be open Thursday, Sept. 1. All afterschool/athletic events are canceled Thursday, but dismissal and extended day will not be impacted.
