Here's the Central Florida weather forecast for the weekend. For a tropical update, see our Weather Experts' latest on Invest 99 and Gaston.

  • Winds settle down tonight
  • Temps will fall into mid to upper 70s
  • Rain chances increase Monday

Not a bad start to the weekend with seasonable Central Florida conditions. We had a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures around 90 degrees. Winds were breeze out of the east, bringing some showers and storms ashore. We’ll see a similar forecast for Sunday before rain chances really start to pick up on Monday.

Winds will settle down a bit heading into tonight, but continue out of the east-northeast. While most will be dry with partly cloudy skies, a few isolated showers may work their way ashore along the coast. Temperatures will be warm, falling into the mid to upper 70s.

A weak area of low pressure continues to move west just south of Florida. This low will keep breezy winds out of the east over the next several days and will allow for more moisture to move back into Central Florida. Sunday will be similar to today with scattered showers and storms and highs around 90 degrees. The beginning of the work week will hold the highest rain chances, with the low just to our west. Temperatures should get knocked down into the mid to upper 80s.

The low bringing the extra rain is non-tropical and is expected to stay that way as it heads into the Gulf of Mexico. There is still a possibility that the warm Gulf waters may help to strengthen the low into something tropical and will continue to be monitored. Gaston remains out in the Atlantic and is expected to strengthen, but stay away from the U.S. Elsewhere, we have a disturbance south of Bermuda in the Atlantic and another wave set to come off the African coast Tuesday that has a low chance for tropical formation over the next five days.
