Fresh-cut vegetables are being recalled from stores across the Southeast because they may be contaminated with potentially fatal listeria bacteria.

  • Vegetables may be contaminated with listeria
  • Products shipped to Florida and other states in the Southeast
  • FDA Recall Alert

The recall involves vegetable products from Texas-based Country Fresh, Inc. On Friday, the company said affected products were shipped to retailers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

The products have the Country Fresh labels and were sold at Bi-Lo, Fresh Point, Harris Teeter, Publix, QuikTrip, Spinx, Walmart and Winn-Dixie stores.  Recalled items have “best if used by” dates of Aug. 7 through Aug. 19.

Listeria can cause serious infections, as well as, high fever and severe headaches.
