  • 1 woman killed, 4 people hospitalized

Heather Baker, 29, was killed when the van she was riding in rolled over Wednesday morning. It happened on Mericamp Road in Ocala, across from Forest High School.

Authorities say there were six people in the van that was transporting developmentally disabled adults.

Three people, including the driver of the van, are in critical condition and 1 person is in serious condition.

Authorities say a 79-year-old woman was in the left turn lane but then re-entered traffic.

When a pickup truck and a van tried to avoid hitting her, the van overturned.

"The van ran off the road, came back onto the road into the right hand lane, then the driver overcorrected and went off onto the north shoulder and overturned, ejecting several passengers in the vehicle," said a trooper who was on scene at the time.

The CEO of ARC Marion said two of the people in the van, including the woman who died, were supposed to be at their adult day training Wednesday and were most likely on their way when the crash happened.

Marion County Public School officials said there were two Forest High School students in the pickup truck and they were on their way to school when the crash happened.
