Police say the decomposed body of a person found Monday near Lake Underhill was the victim of a homicide.

  • Decomposed body found near Lake Underhill Road and Palmer Street
  • Orlando Police said they were notified by Fish and Wildlife officials
  • The sex or age of the body is currently unknown, police say

Authorities say the body was found in a shallow area within the water near Lake Underhill Road and Palmer Street.

Investigators say the Fish and Wildlife Commission told police about the discovery. Police and the Orange County Dive Team spent hours combing the lake's edge.  

"We do not know how long the body has been there or any of the circumstances of how the body got in the lake," said Sgt. Wanda Miglio, of the Orlando Police Department.

The sex or age of the body is currently unknown.
