An investigation is underway after an unidentified body was found over the weekend in Marion County, deputies said.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office's Field Force Unit searched Dunnellon on Saturday, Aug. 20, for evidence in connection with the disappearance of Eric Danzell Humbert.

Authorities discovered a body around 11 a.m. in a wooded area north of the intersection of Southwest 162nd Terrace and Southwest 36th Street. Crews worked through the weekend to fully recover the remains.

The identification or sex of the body hasn't been determined, deputies said.

Detectives said they can't confirm if the remains belong to Eric Humbert at this time, and so they will continue their investigation into Humbert's disappearance.
