A Volusia County man was injured after he was shocked by electricity while working on a building in Daytona Beach Friday morning.

  • Workers injured after walking into power lines
  • They were preparing the building for termite treatment
  • One worker suffered third-degree burns

The incident happened at around 7:40 a.m., according to the Daytona Beach Fire Department.

The 23-year-old man was preparing a building for termite treatment when he walked into a power line.  He suffered third-degree burns with an entrance wound on his arm and an exit wound on his foot, officials said.

Firefighters used an aerial apparatus to remove the man from the building’s roof. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Florida Power & Light arrived at the scene to cut power to the business and the adjacent business for safety of the victim and firefighters. Power was restored once everyone was off the roof.

Another employee was also shocked on the same roof earlier in the morning when he walked into a power line, Daytona Beach Fire said.  The 28-year-old was taken to Halifax Hospital for evaluation.
