Traveus D'Kamion Lemon was arrested Thursday and charged with attempted first-degree homicide.

At about 2 a.m. Monday, Sanford Police officers responded to The Barn at 1200 French Ave. after calls about gunshots. When they arrived, they found Dezje Williams, 25, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his back and head, the department said.

Williams indicated that a man who he briefly encountered earlier in the night shot at him as he left the venue and walked to his vehicle.

According to a Sanford arrest report, anonymous tips led to Lemon's arrest. Police think the attempted murder of Williams was a result of a failed robbery attempt by Darrius Grooms on Monday, Aug. 8. During that attempted robbery, investigators said Grooms was shot once in the chest. Grooms and Williams know each other, and Williams denied shooting Grooms, investigators said.

Williams' family members told News 13 that he is a performer known as Loose Kannon Takeoff. Earlier this week, he was listed in stable condition at Central Florida Regional Hospital, according to Sanford Police.

The owner of The Barn said he estimated about 300 people were at the bar that night.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting is asked to call the Sanford Police Department at 407-688-5070 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
