An Orange County Sheriff’s deputy reported about 150 gunshots were fired when officers responded to Pulse nightclub, according to newly released documents.

The documents were released by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Friday and offer more details about what officers encountered when they arrived at the shooting on June 12.

As many as 21 Orange County deputies went inside Pulse nightclub, the documents show.

One deputy described the scene as “chaotic” and the victims as “hysterical.” Several deputies reported seeing dozens of wounded people running from the club covered in blood. Some deputies even reported hearing “the sounds of screaming and requests for help” coming from inside.

Another revelation came from Deputy Robert Kelly, who described the final gunbattle between law enforcement and the shooter.

Deputy Jonathan Payne entered the club and began extracting gunshot victims who could walk.

“We carried the wounded to the designated triage area, which was the back of the Einstein Brothers Bagel business located across the street,” he wrote in his incident report.

Another deputy, who also went inside the club, described a “mass casualty incident,” with numerous dead and wounded people on the floor. The deputy also described seeing at least “two polymer type rifle magazines on the floor” near the area were the victims were found.

Another revelation came from Deputy Robert Kelly, who described the final gun battle between law enforcement and the shooter.

He wrote that he heard “approximately 150 rounds fired from the west side of the club” as officer rescued hostages inside.

The Pulse nightclub shooting has been called the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
