If you want to vote in the Aug. 30 primary election but aren't registered, or you want to change your party affiliation before heading to the polls, the deadline is today.

  • Florida primary voter registration deadline is Aug. 1
  • Deadline is also for those who want to change party affiliation

The last day to register to vote or change your party affiliation for the Tuesday, Aug. 30, primary is Monday, Aug. 1, by 5 p.m.

Applications received by mail must be postmarked by Monday, Aug. 1 in order to be valid for the Aug. 30 primary.

Florida is a closed primary state, which means only voters registered with a political party are eligible to vote in that party's closed primary election. However, all registered voters may vote in nonpartisan school board races, judicial races and municipal elections.

For provisional and vote-by-mail (formerly absentee) ballots, an optional update to a voter's signature can be submitted no later than the start of the canvassing of absentee ballots, which may start as early as Aug. 15.

If you're already registered to vote but need to update your name or address, contact your county's Supervisor of Elections office.
