Here's the Central Florida weather forecast for Wednesday night into Thursday:

  • Dry days on the way
  • Heat continues
  • UV index is extreme

It will remain partly cloudy to mostly clear overnight, with temperatures falling into the middle 70s. A ridge of high pressure will build through the state, decreasing atmospheric moisture along with our chance for showers and storms. Temperatures will remain above normal by 3 to 5 degrees.

A ridge of high pressure is building in from the Atlantic, allowing for warmer temperatures and lower rain chances.  Our atmosphere will be drying at mid and high levels helping to keep our chance for showers and storms down to around 20 percent going into the weekend. Normal high temperatures this time of year run near about 92, but most of us will be 3 to 5 degrees above, with heat indices running near 100 to 105.

In the tropics, we are watching a tropical wave near the African coast. Potential formation for Invest 96 is at 40 percent over the next five days. It’s about two weeks away from Florida. No other tropical formation is expected at this time.

Surfing conditions remain poor with wave heights only about 1 to 2 feet. The rip current threat remains at a lower level, good for swimmers. The UV index is extreme, so it’s easy to burn in just a few minutes without ultraviolet protection.
