Newly released state filings indicate that the Pulse nightclub — the scene of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history — will be the site of a permanent memorial.

  • Pulse incorporation paperwork filed with state
  • Paperwork indicates there will be a permanent memorial at Pulse site
  • Benefit event in Hollywood, California, planned

The documents are paperwork filed with the state to incorporate a 501(c)3 called OnePulse Foundation, Inc., which will use its donations to fund and aid in the construction of the memorial at the Pulse location.

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs released the following statement: "I look forward to learning about future plans regarding Pulse. I know that this community is committed to remembering the innocent lives that were lost in the tragic Pulse shooting and to permanently honoring their memory."

Money raised also can be used to provide financial assistance to the families of the 49 victims killed and the many others injured June 12 at the club on South Orange Avenue.

Pulse representatives also announced plans for an Aug. 19 event in Hollywood, California, to honor and benefit the Pulse victims. "OnePULSE: A Benefit for Orlando" will bring artists, activist and performers for a show at the NeueHouse Hollywood. All proceeds will go to the OnePulse Foundation.

There is no word yet on when construction of a permanent memorial at Pulse could begin.
